Time off

Hello my suckas! So I said I was going to be in ICU last week which is post-op care. Usually not actual intensive care. As I've said we do alot of orthopoedic surgeries, most go home the next day. Not last week! Dogs with chest tubes, cats with stomach tubes, animals with liver disease, anemia, bleeding disorders. It seemed like you name it, we had it! So it was extremely busy and stressful. Thursday and Friday I had lots of help from the other techs. None of the doctors snapped at me which was good, I may have freaked out. But it was just constant and frustrating. Mark says I don't care about the animals when I complain about work. The problem is when it is like that, I feel like I am not doing a good job with any of them! I don't have enough time to spend with each one, just do treatments and move on, no time for a little TLC. But my friend Joey helped by sharing some more stories about his dogs and he said that he feels what I do is important. It's easy to lose sight of why I wanted to try this. We sit through these staff meetings and all of the topics are things that will make the doctor's day easier. Nothing about better patient care, or how to be a better technician. Our x-ray cassettes are breaking, we only have 2 clipper blades, the pulse oximeter doesn't work half the time and we have to kick and scream to get new equipment. But after hearing from Joey I went in Monday with a renewed outlook and had a pretty good week.

Grease rehearsal is going well. I'm pretty close to being off book and there's 2 songs I really need to work on. We got our bedroom furniture yesterday and set up the sleep number mattress. It came in like 6 boxes! It seemed a little overwhelming but it wasn't that bad to assemble. They offer assembly for about $125 and I thought we should have done that. But it took us less than an hour to get it together so it was worth the savings. I took off today (Friday) and Monday so we would have the whole weekend to paint and get everything together. Today Doug is working most of the day, so I am just doing a clothes transer into the new dresser. Tomorrow we have rehearsal so Sunday will probably be painting day. Very relaxed, no breakdowns. I'll let you all know how it turns out. Maybe even take some pictures and figure out how to post them!

Later suckas!
